THAT'S MY MAMA

She’s cast a shadow in glaring sun.
She’s always cheered me to seek fun.
She's been there to wipe away my tears.
She’s done so for many years.

She’s helped me for that first step.
She’s covered for many mishaps.
She’s sheltered for sorrow and pain.
She never pointed otherwise for blame.

And that’s my Mama, she’s so right.
And that’s my Mama, by my side.
She's better than a best friend, it’s so true.
She's always there, as the sky is blue.

My heaven’s perch lies beneath her feet.
She's a burst of sunshine to wisp away doubt.
She’s the shield and defender to steal defeat.                                     It’s God within her that makes her sweet.

My steps are longer, it’s clear to me.
Time has flown through the yesteryears.                                           She’s departed to that peaceful place.
She’s often prayed for me to know.

And that’s my Mama she’s so right.
And that’s my Mama, by my side.
She's better than a best friend, so true.
She's always there, as the sky is blue.
